(((SIGNALS))) Ambergris – “Bottom Feeder”
A signal comes before the full transmission. (((SIGNALS))) is Doomnation Radio’s space for bands to tell us about their new single and what it points toward: why this song came first, where it lives on the album, and what world it carries inside it. Three questions only, the rest is up to them.
Ambergris are a two-piece instrumental stoner doom band from Providence, Rhode Island. “Bottom Feeder” is the lead single from their upcoming EP Untitled, due out on April 20, 2026. Rob Cinami (drums) and Joe Bernard (guitar) answered our three questions.
(1) Why did you choose this song as a single?
Rob: “Well, we kind of write epics, it’s only a 2 song EP so we used the most easily digestible one I suppose. Plus, no one is going to remember the title of the other track because it’s like a paragraph long hahaha. Even though Untitled is only two songs, the shit clocks in at 21:28 minutes. That’s like an entire Grindcore album!”
Joe: “It’s the shorter of the two.”
(2) Where is this song located on the EP?
Joe: “Yes, it’s located on the EP.”
Rob: “First track.”
(3) If this song were a scene in a movie, what happens in it?
Rob: “Two struggling musicians are rummaging through trash cans behind their rehearsal studio for food because Spotify only pays 0.003 cents per stream. While chewing on discarded pizza crusts, the giant kaiju monster named Spermzilla (half Sperm Whale / half Godzilla) emerges from the ocean to offer them a predatory contract with his record label DisGeffJamSonyRunner Blackrock Brothers. After signing the contract with a flaming pen, Ambergris starts playing doom metal versions of Nickelback songs which leads to humanity’s destruction.”
Joe: “Credits roll.”
