(((SIGNALS))) H3LLBLAU – “Something Good Is Real”

Ivan Børsting discusses the unresolved suffering behind H3LLBLAU's single, the physical limit imagined for its voice, and a rhythmic pulse conceived as a heartbeat under pressure. Three answers trace how those decisions belong to an ongoing body of work.

H3LLBLAU is the music project of Ivan Børsting in Aarhus, Denmark. Its single “Something Good Is Real,” released on October 2, 2026, begins with a proposition that Børsting finds difficult to accept: beauty can remain present when life has become unbearable. In his written answers to Doomnation Radio, he describes the title as an accusation and explains why he wanted the song to leave that contradiction unresolved.

Børsting wrote the music and lyrics and handled production, mixing, and mastering. He describes a voice pushed toward physical exhaustion and a rhythmic pulse conceived as a heartbeat under pressure. The song belongs to an ongoing body of work that includes “Casualties Of Momentum,” connected by an attempt to express experiences that language cannot fully carry.

Three questions

(1) Doomnation Radio: What prompted you to write “Something Good Is Real”?

Ivan Børsting: I wrote “Something Good Is Real” out of a confrontation with suffering, and with the strange fact that life does not stop being beautiful when it becomes unbearable. The title is not reassurance. It is almost an accusation. Something good can be real without cancelling anything terrible. I wanted the song to hold both truths at once, without resolving the contradiction.

(2) Doomnation Radio: Is “Something Good Is Real” a standalone single, or does it belong to a larger body of work you’re developing?

Ivan Børsting: It is a single, but not an isolated statement. H3LLBLAU is an ongoing body of work in which I try to give a voice to things language cannot quite carry. The songs are connected by that impulse rather than by a neatly explained concept. “Casualties Of Momentum” is another part of that world.

(3) Doomnation Radio: You wrote and produced the track yourself. Which decision about the voice or the rhythmic pulse was most important to its subject?

Ivan Børsting: The voice had to sound like a body reaching its limit, not like a singer performing anger. And the pulse had to feel heavy and inescapable: something closer to a heartbeat under pressure than a groove designed to please. I wrote and produced it myself, and I wanted to leave the discomfort intact.
