Isartu, an independent technical blackened death metal band from Perth, Western Australia, introduce themselves with the first song guitarist Ollie Morgan wrote for the project. “Sinister Dialectic” was released on October 31, 2026. Morgan regards it as a way into the genres the band combines, and it remains his favorite of their songs.

The single is intended for Hymns from the Abyss, planned for 2027. Its place at the beginning of the album remains tentative. In this email exchange, Morgan discusses that opening and the contributions of bassist and guitarist Eetu Hernesmaa, whose parts helped determine the direction of the guitars.

Three questions

(1) Doomnation Radio: What made “Sinister Dialectic” the song you chose to introduce Isartu with?

Ollie Morgan: It is my favourite and first song that i wrote for Isartu, it perfect encapsulates each genre we combine into our sound, as well as the overall composition has plenty of fun and interesting twists and turns that help to paint a picture of what’s to come.

(2) Doomnation Radio: Where does this track belong within Hymns from the Abyss?

Ollie Morgan: It will most likely be the opening track, setting the scene for what is to come!

(3) Doomnation Radio: How did you work out the relationship between the bass and guitar parts on “Sinister Dialectic”?

Ollie Morgan: The bass is written via Eetu Hernesmaa, a god tier guitarist and bassist from Europe. He brought some intensely intricate bass playing to the album, as well as many virtuosic guitar solos that are simply beyond what I can manage to play. There are many moments throughout the album where the bass has a prominent sound and effects the direction of the guitars. As to analysing them, that would be a question for Eetu, he holds the keys to the Lamborghini (*).
