Marseille funeral doom project OSSIFIER began with “We Are The Endtimes,” a 13-minute piece that became their DSDM demo. The band self-released the recording on October 26, 2026. In their written answers to Doomnation Radio, OSSIFIER connect the title to a sense of impending collapse in their surroundings, describing the song as a somber assessment of that atmosphere.
Recorded at The Dungeon in Marseille and mixed and mastered by Sanford Parker at Hypercube in Chicago, the demo is the starting point for more writing. These three answers trace that beginning, from the band’s view of their city to their choice of amplifiers and their earlier experience of working with Parker.

Three questions
(1) Doomnation Radio: Why did you choose this 13-minute piece as OSSIFIER’s first release, and what does the title mean to the project?
OSSIFIER: Well this is the first song we wrote, in the midst of the growing chaos here in Marseille. The whole vibe here is as of late is very apocalyptical, so we fed on the reigning imminent doomsday feel and called the track “We Are The Endtimes”. It’s more of a somber assessment than a statement to be honest.
(2) Doomnation Radio: Is the DSDM demo intended as a self-contained one-track release, or does it introduce a longer body of work or direction you’re developing?
OSSIFIER: Even though it is a newer project, I guess we still function in a more old school way, as you start off with a demo tape, even if nowadays demos have broader and more immediate reach thanks Bandcamp and whatnot. We’re definitely continuing soundwise in this direction and will push it further as we are writing more material as we speak.
(3) Doomnation Radio: Why did you work with Sanford Parker, and which recording choices were most important in shaping the track’s sound?
OSSIFIER: Some of us have worked with Sanford before, so the choice was pretty obvious. The dude is a legend, so easy to work with when you know what you want and just get’s it done! As for recording choices, obviously amps are important to us, mainly old school Acoustic, Peavey and Orange gear. As for tone, we like it gritty and dirty, like the city we’re from.
